Waltham Butternut Squash is great baked, steamed, broiled, mashed and in pies. This variety has thick rich sweet orange flesh and definitely our favorite winter squash. Waltham Butternut Squash is a good source of fiber, vitamin C, manganese, magnesium, and potassium. It is also an excellent source of vitamin A. Choose a sunny location, plant later in the spring when soil is warm and ALL danger of frost is gone. We hill plant all our squash varieties and cover when a threat of 40 degrees or cooler is present during spring. Sow 6 - 8 Waltham Butternut Squash seeds in hills 1" deep. Keep hills 4 feet apart from each other. Waltham Butternut Squash seeds germination is 10 - 14 days. Thin to 2-3 plants per hill when seedlings are 2" tall. 95 days to maturity. Harvest before first frost or when ready. Leave 1-2 inches of stem attached. Store in a warm dry place. Packet contains 35 Waltham Butternut Squash seeds |
