Tender green mustard is an early maturing Japanese green that has
thick mild dark green oblong leaves. Tender and flavorful it tastes
great eaten raw or cooked. Rich in vitamins and minerals and an
excellent variety for home or market gardens.Mustard
seeds grow best during the cooler parts of the
growing season but will tolerate some heat and prefers well drained soil
that is kept somewhat moist.
Sow mustard seeds in 2 week intervals from early
spring through fall. Plant mustard seed ¼" deep and 1" apart. Germination
takes 7 to 14 days. Keep the soil moderately moist during germination.
Gradually thin mustard to 6" apart enjoying the thinned greens in salads.
Harvest outer mustard leaves when young for best
flavor leaving inner leaves to grow out.
