Little
Finger Carrot
Daucus carota var. sativusA
very popular choice among small carrot growers. Extremely tender and
sweet these baby carrots are excellent for eating fresh, canned or
pickled.
This 60 day variety is quite early. Tops
are 8" to 10" with good attachment. Typical carrot shape, cylindrical
with blunt tips, 3" long x 1" wide. Does well in heavy soils.
Once soil reaches 60 degrees sow seeds in a
row. When plants reach 3-4 inches tall thin to 2 inches apart. Keep rows
6 inches to 1 foot apart for best results. We plant carrots in double
rows 6 inches apart for ease of weeding.
This variety can be planted into summer.
This opens the opportunity to have fresh baby carrots all season. Simply
plant every 2-3 weeks until 2 months prior to first autumn frost.
