If you decide to grow Dills Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds and want to go for a world record there some extreme ways to go about preparing your soil. You will need to dig a hole as big as you can and fill it with the richest soil possible. Atlantic Giants love nitrogen.

If you want to grow a 200 pound or so pumpkin just plant in hills like you normally do. You will want to give each hill a lot of space. Dills Atlantic Giant Pumpkins spread like crazy, space each hill at least 20 feet apart 30-40 is even better. Make hills using the method you decide. Adding compost and rich soil will make for bigger pumpkins.

You can either sow seeds directly in hills or start your pumpkins early in containers. Do NOT let your Atlantic Giants get root bound in containers. Plant seeds flat about 1" deep, meaning don't point the seed down. Planting seeds flat reduces the chance of the shell damaging the sprouts. When sprout damage occurs we cull out that vine as it almost always stunts. Soaking your Dills Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds for 12-24 hours before planting also helps soften the shell. Remember not to let the seeds dry before they germinate if you do decide to soak them.

Plant 3-4 Dills Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds per hill and thin to 1 plant per hill. If you are going for the record only allow one pumpkin per vine or hill. Kill off sets that grow closer than 6 feet to vine base. You want to keep a longer vine so you can adjust it if necessary.

Never touch a baby Dills Atlantic Giant pumpkin because it can kill them.
