That's why we grow Detroit Dark Red Beets
in our own garden. That is why we sell them.
Can be harvested during the entire season and
stores quite well. Use the leaves for greens. Very easy to grow. Prefer cool weather but
can tolerate many conditions. Probably the most hearty and best tasting beet. A great
canner also.
Plant in a sunny, well drained location as soon as the soil can be worked. Repeat
every 2-3 weeks until late summer to extend harvest. Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep, 1-2 inches
apart. Best to harvest when roots get 2 inches across.
