Detroit Dark Red Beets can be harvested during the entire season and
stores quite well. Use the Detroit Dark Red Beet leaves for greens. Very easy to grow,
prefer cool weather but
can tolerate many conditions. Probably the most hearty and best tasting beet. Detroit Dark Red Beets
are a great
canner also.
Plant Detroit Dark Red Beet seeds in a sunny, well drained location as soon as the soil can be worked. Repeat
every 2-3 weeks until late summer to extend harvest. Sow seeds ˝ inch deep, 1-2 inches
apart. Best to harvest when roots get 2 inches across.
