Snowball Cauliflower seeds grow large 7" smooth white heads with large outer leaves. This variety is an extremely dependable crop with heavy yields. Best when started from transplants, cauliflower seeds need to be started early enough to mature before it gets too hot but not so early that it gets injured by the cold. Cauliflower is more sensitive to the cold weather than other cabbage-family crops. Snowball cauliflower seeds can be planted for both spring and fall crops. Transplant 2 weeks before the average last frost in spring and about the same time as cabbage in the fall. Plant your cauliflower seedlings 18-24" apart in a row. When the cauliflower head begins to show 2- 3" of white curd at the growing point, it is ready to blanch. Tie the outer leaves together over the center of the plant to protect the head from the sun and to keep it from turning green and developing an off-flavor. Cauliflower heads develop rapidly and are ready to
harvest 7-12 days after blanching begins. Harvest the heads by cutting the
main stem leaving a few green outer leaves protecting the head. Packet contains ¼ teaspoon cauliflower seeds. Approximately 325 seeds. |
