Turban shaped dark green fruits average 3 lb with the flesh being golden yellow, fine grained and very sweet. Buttercup squash can be stored for several months as long as you keep them in a cool and dry area. The excellent flavor of Buttercup Squash improves in storage. Great for a winter time dish this squash can be baked, steamed, boiled, stuffed or microwaved and can be served in soups, casseroles, pumpkin pie or as a side dish. Plant Buttercup squash seeds in hills 6 - 8 feet apart. Sow 6-8 seeds per hill ˝" deep and thin to 3-4 plants per hill. Buttercup Squash Seeds germination is 7-10 days. You will be eating fresh buttercup squash in only 80 days. Harvest Buttercup Squash before frost. Leave 2 to 3 inches of stem attached to the squash then store in a dry, warm space.
