Our broccoli seed is an early variety that produces large rounded fine beaded heads that are excellent eaten raw, steamed, baked and also freezes quite well. Best when started from transplants, Broccoli Seed needs to be started early enough to mature before it gets too hot but not so early that it gets injured by the cold. Broccoli Seed can be planted for both spring and fall crops. Transplant 2 weeks before the average last frost in spring and about the same time as cabbage in the fall. Sow broccoli seed ¼” deep 3” apart. Broccoli seed germination is 7-10 days. Thin to 18” apart when broccoli seedlings are 3” tall. If growing broccoli seed in rows space your rows 24-36” apart. Keep your broccoli plants well watered to prevent premature heading and flowering. This is an early broccoli seed variety with harvest in only 55 - 70 days. Start harvesting your broccoli when you begin to see the buds spread out, use a sharp knife to cut off heads.Packet contains ¼ teaspoon broccoli seed. |
