Nasturtium annual
Tropaeolum majus
Semi-double, slightly ruffled with fragrant blossoms.
A surprisingly
easy plant to grow with edible flowers that appear above the foliage 6
weeks after planting.
A delightful range of colors, yellow, orange and
scarlet with a splash of mahogany, ruby and cherry rose. Nasturtiums are
used for edging and borders and will also deter whiteflies, squash bug,
and rabbits. Flowers and leaves have a peppery taste and good in salads.
Sow
seeds outdoors after all chance of frost has past. Plant seeds 1/2"
deep and 2" apart. Germination takes 8- 10 days. Keep the soil
moist during germination. Thin 6-12" apart when plants are
2-3" tall.
