Hollyhock
Summer Carnival Mix Biennial
Alcea rosea
These plants blooms all summer long for a beautiful display of 4-5" double blooms in every shade of pink, rose,
red, and yellow! An early bloomer that grows to about 4 ˝ feet (it may require some
support). Easy to grow they do best in full sun and in almost any well-drained soil. Hollyhocks bloom over a
long summer season and will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. They are a biennial
(
flowers in it's second year) or short-lived perennial
but will usually reseed and return year after year.
Native to Asia, great for backgrounds and fence lines. Very popular "old
fashioned" flowers. Look great with morning glories.
Plant about 10 inches apart.
Great for transplanting the second year. We plant rows in our garden the first year. Then
transplant to flowering location for second year. This is not necessary though. Usually
they will come up every year due to seed spreading. Plant the first two years to get
the continuing flowers from then on out.
Packet contains 90 seeds.
