Cosmos bipinnausEasy to grow and drought resistant the cosmos will grow to a height of between 3 and 6 feet. They are covered with large 3" to 4" white, rose, pink and crimson flowers. If given enough room these tall plants will branch freely and produce an abundance of flowers.
Excellent grown in large beds,
alongside your mailbox or a long showy row on the edge of your vegetable
garden. Cosmos are a great cut flower, they have beautiful
feathery foliage and a lovely flower with a long vase life. They grow
rapidly and may need staked
especially in windy areas.
Sow seeds directly outdoors after
all danger of frost has passed. Cover seed with
¼" fine
soil.
Germination takes 7 to 10 days.
Keep the soil moderately moist
during germination. Thin to
12 inches apart when plants are 2 - 3 inches tall.
Cosmos begin blooming
10 weeks after seeding and bloom until the first fall frost.
