Clasping Coneflower annual
Rudbeckia amplexicaulis The
clasping coneflower has black cone-shaped heads that are surrounded by
bright yellow drooping petals. They are absolutely gorgeous when grown
with purple coneflowers and very attractive to butterflies.
Extremely easy to grow, especially in dry hot areas. Prefers full sun
and will grow in a variety of soil conditions. A very heavy re-seeder.
Grows 2 feet tall and blooms June through September. Wonderful for
flower arrangements.
Sow seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds ⅛"
deep and 1" apart. Germination takes 7 to 30 days. Keep the soil
moderately moist during germination. Thin to 4" apart when plants are 2"
tall.
