5 inch flowers on nice stout stems that come in a splendid variety of
color. Blooms into fall once flowers start.
Zinnia's originated in the southwest. Although it started as a pretty
purple flower it has been bred into a beautiful wonder. A favorite to
butterflies and gardeners alike.
Make great rock gardens and cut flower arrangements. Scald stems and
change vase water every 2 - 3 days to prolong vase life. Cut tired
flowers to encourage a longer flower season.
Prefers well drained fertile soil and full sun. Plant seeds 1/4 inch
deep once the soil reaches 68-70 degrees and all danger of frost has
passed. Thin plants to 8 inches apart once established. Pinch tops at 6
inches tall to promote lateral branching.
To get an early start sow seeds indoors in 3 inch pots 6 weeks before
last frost. Avoid temperatures below 50 degrees and seeds need to be
warm to get good germination ratio's.
