Red Corn Poppy Seeds annual Red Corn Poppy seeds are a very easy to grow in the garden. The Red Corn Poppy has delicate 3" fire engine tissue paper flowers with black centers. The Red Poppy is a very hardy plant that prefers loose soil, and will tolerate drought well. It prefers neutral to alkaline ph, but is adaptable. The foliage of the red poppy is inconspicuous, allowing exposure of the huge, brilliant flowers. Prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Sow red corn poppy seeds in the spring, or in fall after frosts. Fall seeding produces very early spring blooms. Sow red corn poppy seeds on the surface of moist soil, don't cover. Keep moist but not soggy and seeds will germinate in 10-15 days. Thin to 8" apart when plants are 1-2" tall. The Red Corn Poppy gets 18-24" tall and reseeds easily if the seed falls on bare ground. Packet contains ⅛ teaspoon red corn poppy seeds.
